Why Trust Me?
As always, I chose about 20 crates at the start and brought them down to the top 9 based on their features, online reviews, and product ratings.
Since we have some of these crates with us, iPetGuides bought the remaining crates, and we evaluated them.
We even had Goldendoodle dog parents come over and share their experiences too.
That’s why this is the ONLY dog kennel review you need.
Without further ado, let’s start with the 1st in the list and the best, the IMPACT Collapsible Dog Crate.
9 Best Dog Crates for Goldendoodle
1. IMPACT Collapsible Dog Crate
The best types of crates for Goldendoodles are the ones with balanced visibility, not covered or not too exposed. This is to keep your Goldendoodle calm.
IMPACT’s collapsible dog crate is the best among all the crates I evaluated.
For starters, this collapsible crate can be set up in just 60 seconds (there’s video proof).
This crate comes in six sizes that make it fit for all dog breeds, you know. The crate size with 34.5 “L x 23 “W x 28.97 “H dimensions (34” length) is recommended for Goldendoodles.
You shouldn’t choose a larger crate with unnecessary space.
Personalization doesn’t stop there; you can buy the crate in six earth-tone colors that preserve a classy look. It’s 99% recyclable and made with strong aluminum. So, it’s not a soft crate at all.
The best thing? The crate is USA-made.
This folding metal dog crate has two military-grade handles. Whether the crate sits at Home or in your car, you can easily move it.
IMPACT boasts how easy it is to manage their crate with just one-handed operation thanks to a dependable latch on a door.
Your new puppy will be comfortable inside thanks to the 360-degree ventilation holes. This enables excellent air circulation and lets in enough light too. Best Goldendoodle dog crates must have these features.
IMPACT brings a lot of reassurance of their product quality as you get a lifetime warranty. That’s in addition to free shipping and free exchanges too.
All you’ve got to do is just use the crate as it ships assembled.
Your Goldendoodle will love this crate, and you will, too — it’s the best.
Oh, look out for the website chat. You can get around 20% off from time to time. If not for that, you can get 15% off the first order with other exclusive perks.
Take a look at our personal experience if you want to learn more about this dog crate.

2. GUNNER G1
I can’t begin to tell you how many times Gunner G1 has made it to the top 3 of my lists.
For this time, it’s the best alternative crate for your Goldendoodle.
Crowned as the world’s safest traveling crate, Gunner G1 is rigorously crash-tested. It’s designed to ensure your goldendoodle is safe even in the worst-case scenario.
It’s actually the market’s only double-wall rotomolded crate. But crucial parts are metallic; for example, the powerful aluminum frame system.
You can choose the crate size based on 3 parameters: on a set of instructions of exact pet measurements, your vehicle, or the conventional way by using crate dimensions.
Although Impact makes breed-specific size recommendations, Gunner doesn’t — so remember to get the size right. If you’re unsure, don’t worry; I’ve added a subtopic later in this read to teach you how to do it.
Moving on, you can also choose this crate in five earth-tone colors.
The durable crate is 12% cooler, takes 20% less energy for your dog to stay warm, and has element-repelling windows.
With the oversized drainage plug with a recessed floor, you can clean the crate more easily, especially during potty training.
Managing this crate is easier thanks to the reversible door, which makes it easier to open it inward or outwards.
The backup latches and the super strong carry handles are the cherry on top.
You also get a wider base, built-in tie-down pins, and non-slip feet to keep everything stable as a portable dog crate.
Like Impact’s collapsible crate, Gunner G1 is also American-made, comes with a lifetime guarantee, and ships fully assembled. All you need to do is start crate training, just like that.
It would have been the perfect crate if it had free shipping too. That’s why it’s the second-best crate I recommend.
We’ve reviewed the gunner g1 crate in this article. Read if you want to learn more.

3. Diggs Revol Dog Crate
I’m not sure if you’re familiar with the brand, but the Diggs Revol crate is another amazing crate alternative for your Goldendoodles.
Unlike the first two, this is more of an open crate.
This Goldendoodle dog crate comes in four sizes. The medium size of M (32″ L x 20″ W x 22″ H) is typically ideal for Goldendoodle.
More personalization is available in three colors: black, grey, and light grey.
Not only that, but this crate is collapsible too. Like IMPACT, the process is extremely simple, and the handle makes it easy to carry. You can also set up the crate in less than a minute.
This crate is made of aluminum, steel mesh wire, and reinforced plastic. It provides considerable resilience, although it’s obviously not as good as Gunner G1.
The mesh wire design ensures maximum ventilation and visibility too. It’s worth noting that its body has a unique diamond-shaped mesh that ensures that your dog’s paws won’t be damaged.
Did I mention the Revol is a dual-door crate? It is, and these doors are situated on adjacent sides, giving 100% convenient accessibility. Many dog owners will love this as a puppy’s crate, as it makes things easier.
Not only that, this dog crate also has a top opening that lets you interact with the dog without attempting to run out. You know how active Goldendoodles can be.
Cleaning the crate is easier thanks to the removable tray.
Revol also works as a dependable travel dog crate. But you should always take it inside the car since it’s not extremely strong.
It also has a Goldendoodle puppy divider panel that makes your life easier.
This American-made crate comes with a one-year limited warranty too.
I’m not saying it’s the best, but the DIGGS Revol crate is one of the best dog crates for Goldendoodles.

4. Lucky Dog® Dwell Series™ Crate
Lucky Dog’s wire dog crate is closer to the DIGGS Revol crate as a fully opened crate.
This wire crate is made from stainless steel and features a protective e-coat that will extend its life tremendously.
The rust-resistant nature further prolongs the crate’s durability.
As I said, Lucky Dog’s crate is a wire crate. Thus, you should be more patient if you will use it with Goldendoodles with separation anxiety.
But the crate is strong enough, and even the strongest Goldendoodle won’t be able to bend the wires.
I love how this wire dog crate is collapsible.
Once it’s folded flat, you can move it with the carrying handle; you know that’s not a feature seen in most wire crates. Another unique feature would be the snap-on corner stabilizers to prevent it from unwanted collapsing.
Cleaning this crate is very much easier. Thanks to the removable leak-proof plastic pan, that convenience further increases.
What about the entrance and exit?
It also has exceptionally smooth double-panel sliding doors with a rail system that saves space. With secure latching, you don’t have to worry about your Goldendoodle’s safety.
This heavy-duty dog crate comes in six sizes and one color. The smallest size is 22 “x13 “x16”, and the largest is 48 “x30 “x33” — pretty spacious. Remember to measure and choose the right size crate.
This USA-made crate comes with a warranty, and you can pay it in 4 interest-free installments with ShopPay.
It’s a great alternative crate for your Goldendoodle.
Pros
Cons
5. Fable Crate
The Fable crate is completely different from the crates we have discussed so far.
For starters, this is a handmade wooden dog crate made from premium bentwood. It comes in two finishes: signature and limited-edition walnut.
Just as much as the material, its design attributes are unique enough too. It has slightly bigger round-ended squares as ventilation holes on three sides.
As for the door, it’s either a completely transparent acrylic gate or a white (non-transparent) gate with ventilation holes. It opens as a garage gate and can be slid in on the top to save space.
The crate looks more like a home decor element than a crate, in a way.
But one clear downside of the Fable crate is the lack of a latchable door. So, ideally, this crate is for well-tamed goldendoodles who will stay inside the crate no matter what.
The den-like environment facilitated for your Goldendoodle by the Fable crate is admirable, as it heightens the effect of other comfort-focused features of the crate.
You can buy this crate in three sizes; the medium size of 32″ deep x 22.5″ wide x 23.5″ high dimensions is more suitable for your Goldendoodle.
There are some limitations, although. One is, if you want the white gate, it’s unavailable in the Walnut finish and for the large size.
Remember that these wooden crates aren’t returnable. So, you’ve been careful with orders.
You can also get the bedding and a bowl from Fable itself, and the combination of all these features makes it a moderately great crate for any doodle puppy or adult.
You can read more about this crate in this review.

6. Midwest Homes iCrate
Have you found your Goldendoodle crate yet? If not, let’s see if you like the next IMPACT crate alternative: the MidWest Homes iCrate.
The first prominent factor you’d notice is the impressive size range: seven sizes from 18″ length to 48″.
But you’ll have to measure your Goldendoodle and match the size, as there’s no breed-specific size guide.
This is a traditional wire crate with a few modifications that make it suitable for Goldendoodles.
The most prominent feature is the double-door configuration to me. Since it’s adjacently placed, you can quickly get your pet in and out.
There’s also a dependable slide bolt latch, so no worries about safety.
The cherry on top is how it has rounded corners for pet protection.
Just as much as the double door configuration, iCrate’s collapsibility is amazing too. Once it’s folded flat, you can easily carry it by using the two ABS plastic handles. It also has divider panels.
One downside would be how they get no returns or exchanges, similar to Fable wooden crates.
As an alternative crate, I personally love how many features MidWest brings to the table for that price.

Cons
7. Casual Home Wooden Pet Crate
Take a moment to look at the crate and come back.
Did you see it? Looks classy as an end table crate, doesn’t it?
With these great looks come some amazing features to make your Goldendoodle feel better.
Causal Home’s crate is wooden but comes in five elegant colors.
Personalization doesn’t stop there; you can buy this crate in five sizes, whose smallest is 20 “W x 27.5 “D x 24 “H, and the largest is 31.5’’W x 44.5” D x 30’’H.
Once again, you should do the size evaluation for the best fit.
This crate is made from premium Thailand wood and usually comes with one swing door. But some larger sizes come with dual panels of a single door. All doors are completely lockable.
Casual Home boasts the fact that their crate comes assembled. After all, that does make things easier for you.
I also love how this design prioritizes ventilation all over the crate. These openings are harmless and provide amazing air circulation with enough light inside.
I understand it lacks some crucial features, but let’s not forget this is an alternative. As an alternative, the Casual Home wooden crate delivers enough, especially for that price.
Pros
Cons
8. Petmate Compass Kennel
Petmate is known for high-quality plastic dog crates. Their 40-inch compass kennel could be an ideal alternative crate for your Goldendoodle.
This particular crate comes in one size, 40″ L x 26.1″ W x 29.7″ H, weighing 25 lbs. Petmate recommends it for dogs between 70 and 90 lbs. But I recommend you get the exact measurements.
As I said earlier, Petmate is known for fantastic plastic crates, and this crate is made from 90% pre-consumer recycled plastic content.
Even so, this eco-friendly, soft crate is strong enough to hold your Goldendoodle pretty decently.
The build quality is amazing; the ventilation holes provide perfect air circulation and visibility. After all, it’s a wire crate door.
I love the two-way opening door; you never know which orientation you need. The dual turn-dial latches bring optimal safety.
This crate comes unassembled, but Petmate’s crates are very easy to assemble. In fact, this crate features a slide assembly with 4 bolts for security.
Compass kennel might not be the best, but it performs amazingly as an alternative. Being made in the USA, there’s that extra layer of quality reassurance for these soft crates.

9. Amazon Basics Foldable Metal Wire Dog Crate
Remember that I had around 20 crates initially, and out of them I picked 9 — Amazon Basics Metal is the 9th best crate. Let’s see what makes it special.
For starters, this is a metal wire crate. Your Goldendoodle will fit inside one of the six sizes it’s available in.
The smallest is 22 “L x 13” W x 16 “H, and the largest is 48 “L x 30” W x 32.5 “H.
Although it comes in one color (obviously), you can buy this crate in two types; single-door or double-door.
The single door is on a smaller side, and the second door of the double-door type is on its adjacent side, making movement easier.
Sit down and think about it.
The availability of a divider in both types is a good sign Amazon Basics values customer experience.
Amazon Basics crate made specifically for indoor use. So, best not to use it outdoors or travel if you get this crate.
Made in the USA, getting this crate for that price is a great deal.
But you should ask yourself if you’re okay with not having some critical features. It’s one of the best dog crate I can recommend responsibly.

Buying Guide for the Best Goldendoodle Crate
If you’re wondering how I found these crates and did the evaluation, I’m about to share that wisdom with you.
- Get the ideal crate size based on your Goldendoodle’s breed and size. For this, you should measure the dog accurately; it’s explained in a later subtopic.
- Ensure the crate is made of sturdy and durable materials such as rotomolded plastic or metal. Crash-tested crates bring maximum peace of mind to you.
- Check for (preferably) 360-degree ventilation. Holes on the below half aren’t necessary; remember that.
- Having removable trays is great, but they should be very strong. If not, crates with recessed floors and drainage plugs are better.
- Choose a crate to address the worst behavioral condition of your Goldendoodle.
- Check the car-travel friendliness of the crate to make it multi-purpose.
- Best to get a crate with a warranty; the longer, the better.
- Remember that recognized brands have better customer service as they don’t want to lose their brand’s image.
I’m sure there’s more, but fulfilling these factors is more than enough.
Why Get a Crate for Goldendoodle?
Once again, there can be many more reasons, but let me point out some Goldendoodle-specific reasons to get a crate.
- Goldendoodles, known for their friendly and sociable nature, still require a designated safe space to retreat and feel secure when needed.
- Dogs of this breed benefit from the structure and routine that a crate provides for housetraining. It helps them develop better bladder control too.
- Goldendoodles are known to be sensitive and anxious, so these crates create a secure and quiet haven.
- Loving adventure and travel is a signature trait of many Goldendoodles. Getting a versatile crate will make traveling with dogs easier too.
- Even the most tamed goldendoodles can still have a bad day. A dependable crate will contain their destructive behavior, saving you a little fortune.
- Dog parents with active dogs like Goldendoodles deserve more peace of mind, and crates will deliver that better.
- Goldendoodles are more prone to separation anxiety, and the right dog crate will help you fix that issue more easily.
On top of this, there are many other reasons why dogs, in general, need crates. So, all of them combined, it’s a dire necessity.
How to Measure a Goldendoodle Before Buying a Crate?
The right crate size ensures your Goldendoodle has enough space to stand, turn around, and lie down comfortably.
It also helps prevent them from feeling cramped or restricted inside the crate.
How do we measure correctly? Here’s how.
Step 1: Height measurement – Measure the height from the floor to their shoulder blades with a measuring tape when standing on a flat surface. Add a few more inches, and that’s an ideal crate height.
Step 2: Width measurement – measure the distance from the two ends of your Goldendoodle’s torso, and add a few more inches than you did for the height. This ensures they have enough room to turn around and lie down.
Step 3: Length measurement – measure the length from your furry friend’s nose top to the base of their tail. Add a few inches for them to stretch comfortably, and you have an ideal crate length.
You can also consider your Goldendoodle’s weight as two extra points, but accurate measurements are better. The second point is to buy the crate for an adult Goldendoodle if you still have a puppy; trust me, they grow up fast.

Crate Training Your Goldendoodle: A Step-By-Step Guide
Crate training goldendoodle, or any breed, is not challenging when you know what to do.
That’s what you’re about to learn.
Step 1: Introduce the crate as a positive space by placing familiar toys and bedding inside. Let your Goldendoodle explore and enter the crate willingly; this is the best way to begin crate training.
Step 2: Start associating the crate with positive experiences by offering treats, praise, or even playtime, whenever your Goldendoodle enters or spends time inside the crate. They should feel, “crate = dog treats = enjoyable”
Step 3: Gradually close the door for short periods when they’re inside for a few seconds, and increase it. Remember to give treats and verbal praise since they stayed calm.
Step 4: Start feeding near the crate as the process goes, as this discourages house soiling. I know, pretty psychological!
Step 5: As you increase the time your Goldendoodle spends inside the crate, stay away once the crate is closed. If they stay calm, you MUST praise them more than usual.
Step 6: Now it’s time to introduce a cue word such as “crate” or “go to bed.” Use this repeatedly to make them understand the command.
Step 7: As we move further, you should also crate-train them at different times during the day, including daytime naps, overnight sleep, and short periods of confinement when you’re away from Home.
Step 8: The final step is about increasing their crate dependence. One method is to wash them and make them rest in the bedding inside the same crate — you get the picture.
During all these steps, you must NEVER make the crate a form of punishment, NEVER be impatient, and NEVER break routine. Do this right, and you’ll have an amazingly crate-trained Goldendoodle, my friend.
Types of Goldendoodle Crates
There are SO many, but you can bring all of them under these main types.
- Wire crates: These are metallic wire crates and have a cage-like feeling. So, I wouldn’t recommend them for clingy goldendoodles with anxiety. Definitely not for outdoors.
- Rotomolded walled crates: These are perfect for all Goldendoodles, proving superior strength and resilience. The covered nature makes them feel comfortable and secure.
- Plastic crates: These plastic crates are somewhat similar to rotomolded crates but weaker and lightweight. Not a wrong choice.
- Heavy-duty crates: These escape-proof crates are made from heavy-gauge steel, heavier, stronger, and hard to escape. But the price is much higher compared to rotomolded crates.
- Furniture style crates: These crates are designed to blend seamlessly with your home decor, but 9 out of 10 times, you will have to sacrifice several performance-based features compared to other types.

Benefits of Buying a Goldendoodle Crate At Puppyhood
I can’t recommend raising a breed like Goldendoodle without a crate. But it’s extremely crucial when they’re in puppyhood.
These benefits back up my claim.
- Aids in housetraining by establishing a routine and teaching bladder control.
- Provides a secure space for puppies.
- Prevents destructive behavior such as chewing on furniture that should be stopped at puppyhood.
- Easier for you to carry your Goldendoodle puppies with a crate.
- The risks of your puppy harming themselves will be lower with a crate.
- It helps you maintain the peace of your household overall; you know how puppies are.
- It gives you enough peace of mind to focus on your own.
- A crate-trained puppy will behave better at vet visits or grooming sessions.
- Crate-training a puppy is much easier than crate-training a grown crate.
- These crates are versatile and hence, can be used throughout their life.
In Conclusion
Goldendoodles are amazing, and they ought to be looked after. That’s why buying a quality dog crate for your goldendoodle is a timely investment.
When you evaluate all the considerable crates, it’s apparent how IMPACT’s crate exhibits all the features that make your and your dog’s life easier and safer.
Isn’t that what you really want, after all?
I hope this review helped you, and take great care of your beloved Goldendoodle. Cheers!
