Do they even have dog training in San Antonio? That’s what I thought, too.

How did I do it? By using the best training in this list. But why trust me?

Best 6 Dog Training in San Antonia, TX
1. K9 Training Institute
The best recommendable dog training program in San Antonio is the K9 Training Institute.
Let’s see why.
For starters, the training program is laser-focused on whether your dog is an adult or a puppy. That’s where the program divides.
This is a training program and an online workshop conducted by Dr. Alexa Diaz and Eric Presnall.
Dr. Diaz brings over 20 years of experience in training service dogs. That’s why her techniques for potty training and 11 typical dog behavioral problems are so effective.
Their training strategy is a combination of positive reinforcement AND body language.
I won’t elaborate on these techniques, but here’s a sample of what you’ll learn there.
You’ll learn secret methods that service dog trainers use for housebreaking dogs. The training also uses techniques that are used on service dogs to stop them from unnecessary barking.
What else does this dynamic duo fix?
They also will teach you how to walk your dogs without them pulling on the leash. They also will ensure your dogs know to ALWAYS come when called. To me, the techniques of following complex commands were the most impressive.
That’s not all.
It won’t happen after the K9 training institute workshop if your dog has always jumped on people. The science of body language is a fascinating area that most dog trainers don’t even mention.
The K9 institute is happy to have all ages and breeds of dogs, too.
This all sounds like an expensive deal, right? Can you guess how much it costs for a seat? $100? $200? Get this — this training is 100% FREE. There are NO hidden fees at all.
It’s not too good to be true as they’ll have your contact details, but so do other trainers.
So, the K9 Institute’s dog training is the absolute best you can get anywhere.

2. Sit Means Sit – San Antonio
The second best course I can recommend is the Sit Means Sit. Let’s see why it’s special.
All of their classes are in-person, and they have seven class types. I tried both the Extreme! Day Training and private lessons just to get in touch.
Here’s how their program varies,
Their most popular course is Extreme! Day Training. Here, the dog’s parents are actively involved in an all-day experience.
You can always get private lessons if you’re not a fan of grouplessons. As expected, Sit Means Sit Institute designates one trainer for you, so the training plan is specific to you.
In all these training lessons, Sit Means Sit ensures that almost all the dog training aspects are met. These include,
And behavioral issues like that.
Apart from the day training and private lessons, you can also enroll in private puppy lessons, specialty classes, group classes, and a Board and train program. Don’t worry; Sit Means Sit is clear and concise on what each program does.
But a definite plus point is the free consultation and the free training demo they give.
In addition to San Antonio, Sit Means Sit operates in 157 locations with well-qualified and experienced trainers — these guys deliver for what they charge.
But it would have been awesome if they were open on Sundays.

3. Arfordable Dog Training
Arfordable Dog Training is my third-best recommendation, and I have justification for that.
For starters, I was completely caught off guard seeing pictures of their ‘graduate’ dogs who successfully completed the course. What a wholesome initiative.
Coupling that with their force-free training pledge reminded me a lot of K9 Training Institute’s compassionate and patient training methods.
So, what exactly do you get at Arfordable Dog Training?
Board & Train has a top priority there just as much as day training, where your involvement is encouraged and expected.
Furthermore, Arfordable Dog Training School has Behavior Modification where dogs that need extra care receive that.
You also can enroll in private lessons, obedience classes, and even service dog training. If you own a puppy, Arfordable Dog Training also has a puppy training academy.
The institute is borderline confidential about its training durations and costs, and I have to respect that. But they will try their absolute best to train your dog, although they admit there is no guarantee — that did discourage me a little bit.
Bottom line, your dog will receive great training, but Arfordable Dog Training’s affordability is subjective.

4. Petco Dog Training
Although Petco is a renowned dog products store, did you know they had a dog training program based in San Antonio?
But is it any good? Let me tell you.
Similar to Arfordable, Petco is based on a positive dog training approach too.
In doing so, they have designed training classes for all ages and breeds.
Here’s where it gets better: All courses are delivered by certified trainers and AKC evaluators.
Petco has divided its programs into three categories:
Private and adult training classes are divided into levels. Petco clearly discloses what commands and behavioral issues will be fixed. These training programs span from 8 weeks to 6+ months.
All private lessons are 45 minutes/lesson, and you can choose either 4 lessons or 6 lessons class.
The best thing about Petco training is that you get either in-store (in-person) or online training. It’s also a matter of clicking a few buttons to book a training class.
I’d understand if the prices discourage you slightly, but you get enough ROI for that.

5. Double D Dog Training
The first thing you’ll notice about Double D dog training is that it’s family-owned. So, I was surprised to see that they have successfully trained over 800 dogs.
Do they deserve to train your dog? Let’s see.
Double D Training Institute also has a class classification.
The first is dedicated to puppy training, where proactive measures are prioritized. This is to fix issues like nipping, jumping, and biting.
Then there is basic obedience, which dog parents usually pick, focusing mainly on following verbal commands and attention.
I loved how they also offer advanced obedience classes where the team goes the extra mile. I’ll let you explore this section yourself.
Remember that all these classes contain 4 sessions with 1 hour each. But you can also add on training services for 1h 15 min with specific areas such as clicker training, leash walking, and even new dog introduction.
It’s generous of them to offer a discount if there are 2 dogs too.
That’s not all.
Your kids can also get involved with dog training in a separate training type.
All of these come with certification handouts, and they will even customize training.
But Double D is adamant about its cancellation policy and has a strict travel policy, too. Before you get discouraged by their prices, see for yourself whether it’s worth it.
For me, I went with K9 Training Institute.

6. Pup Pup & Away
For the last suggestion for dog training in San Antonio, I give you Pup Pup And Away.
Let’s see what’s special about it.
It’s not an exaggeration to say that Pup Pup And Away is an all-in-one training center. But primarily, they have an amazing in-person dog training class.
The institute offers you two programs: the Power Puppy class for pups younger than 5 months. The Canine Sidekick is geared for dogs 5 months and older.
In comparison, although, the two courses aren’t that different. But whether it was a puppy or an adult dog, their sitting, socializing, leash walking, jumping, and the ability to obey verbal commands will be surely reinforced.
Pup Pup And Away also offers private lessons. This enables more customization for those who want it.
All their programs are led by their owner and director of training, who is well-qualified and has been in the industry since 2007. Not to pinpoint, but she doesn’t have a PhD like the one who leads the K9 dog training institute’s course.
In addition to all this, there’s a daycare center and dog boarding, too.
But I do think it would have been convenient for dog parents if prices were visible.

Online Vs. In-Person Dog Training: A Comparison
The world is more digitized than ever, and this applies to dog training, too. Let’s make a quick comparison of online vs. in-person dog training to understand the pros and cons.
Online | In-person |
Relatively very affordable and cost-effective | Has always been expensive with hidden fees |
Less real-life interactions with trainers | More interactions with trainers |
Accessible from anywhere & anytime | Have to be physically present |
Training material can be accessed more than once | Training is available only in real-time |
Focussed and distraction-free | Training typically happen as groups and hence can get chaotic |
You will be bonding with your dog as they train | Your dog trainer will be bonding with your dog more than you do |
As you can see, there are pros and cons to both types but online training seems to be the better option. That’s one of the main reasons why K9 training institute made it to the top.
Other dog training programs in other regions:
In Conclusion
Training dogs properly is a bit harder when you’re not in DC or NYC. But with training institutes like K9, anyone in San Antonia can train their dogs in the best way.
It’s almost unbelievable how you can get EVERYTHING done for ABSOLUTELY FREE.
In comparison, there’s no better course.
I hope this review was helpful to you. Why spend a penny when everything is free?
