Dogo App Review (2024 Upd.) Is it Worth Your Cash Actually?

Last Updated on October, 2024

I have been searching for the BEST dog training app for my Bruno to ensure his behavior will not spoil my reputation in PUBLIC.

I tested the three highest-rated dog training apps for iOS and Android with my puppy for over three months.

Among them, many features of the Dogo App put me at PEACE.

The Good

The Dogo App offers user-friendly dog training with engaging lessons and progress tracking.

The Not So Good

Some users find the app’s advanced features immersive initially.

The Bottom Line

The Dogo App is an effective dog training tool, though beginners may need time to explore its full potential. That said, there is a free alternative that I’ll introduce you to, which you can try out without spending a penny. Check it out HERE.

About Dogo App

Dogo App is a revolutionary dog training app with a clear mission – strengthening the bond between pet parents and their dogs.

It was founded by Rasa, a certified veterinary doctor, and Tadas, a seasoned software developer. GUESS WHAT? They started this app from their experience with Udra, a shelter dog.

Do you know? Recognizing the need for a fun and effective training solution, Dogo was born.

This app has professionally designed programs led by experienced trainers and vets, ensuring optimal care for your dog’s internal and behavioral needs.

With a focus on exciting training sessions, Dogo makes learning enjoyable for both dog and owner.

Their diverse team, including experts in technology, business, and design collabs to offer a high-quality product. (Awesome, right?)

What sets Dogo apart is its UNIQUE combination of convenience, community engagement, and personalized curation, making it the #1 companion app for dog parents.

This app will help you experience the joy of building a STRONGER connection with your dog – for sure! However, there are some drawbacks which should be taken into consideration.

Trainers of the Dogo App

Dogo App has a diverse team of skilled dog trainers committed to promoting STRONG BONDS between dogs and their owners through positive reinforcement.

First, check their global team of experts list, as each will help bring UNIQUE skills to enrich your dog-training experience with the Dogo App.

  • Sylvia Wes (USA): She is the head trainer at ‘Up Dog LA’ and ABCDT’ certified with a decade of experience in science-based, positive reinforcement training.
  • Angela Gardner (USA): Angela is certified by the ‘Academy of Dog Trainers.’ She is good at bridging communication gaps between dogs and owners through online consultations worldwide.
  • Skye Marion (Australia): Skye’s diverse qualifications include scent detection, assistance dog training, and a deep interest in reactivity in dogs.
  • Vanessa Pare (Canada): She specializes in reactive dogs. Vanessa, based in Montreal, advocates for science-based training methods.
  • Rafael Wisneski (Brazil): Founder of ‘My Companion Dog’ Rafael is a certified trainer in Curitiba-Paraná, Brazil.
  • Nicolás Dzikowsky (Spain): A professional dog trainer accredited in Spain, Nicolás actively participates in sports training competitions.
  • Anita Leszczyk (Poland): She holds a ‘Dog Trainer of I and II degree.’ Anita aims to help owners understand and control their pet’s emotions.

However, it’s essential to note that while highlighting the expertise of the team is valuable, the absence of more details about other trainers, such as consultation methods, successful collaborations, conferences, or workshops conducted by all the trainers, and more may leave potential customers with unanswered questions.

Types of Training in Dogo App

Dogs are like kids. They, too, need training from day 1 to learn some basics. So, it’s your responsibility to be a good dog parent for your companion.

That’s why the Dogo App has exciting training programs for your dog.

Basic Obedience

You can transform your naughty friend into a well-behaved companion with Dogo’s Basic Obedience Program. In just 3 weeks, your dog will master 25 essential skills through positive reinforcement and clicker training.

Sounds interesting, right? Keep reading.

Week 1 focuses on introducing the clicker, teaching BASIC COMMANDS, and fostering TRUST. Week 2 enhances leash manners and reinforces commands in various environments.

The final week, I mean week 3, has advanced skills and challenges to your dog in a distracting dog park setting. This program will be adaptable to your schedule and make you your dog’s trainer, ensuring a happy and obedient pup.

Strengthen Your Friendship Program

Here is the BEST Dogo Training program to strengthen your friendship with your dog. In just 12 weeks, your dog will master 12 new tricks, perfect for impressing your family, friends, and neighbors.

This training program is IDEAL for those who’ve completed the ‘Basic Obedience,’ as this program offers mental stimulation, preventing boredom and behavioral issues. You can boost your dog’s confidence and strengthen your bond through fun tricks.

Here, week 1 focuses on essentials like ‘paw tricks’ and ‘Rollover’ while week 2 challenges balance with tricks like ‘Sit Pretty’ and ‘Peekaboo.’

Stay Active Program

NEXT, you can enroll in Dogo’s 2-week ‘Stay Active’ training program to enhance your dog’s physical and mental well-being. Week 1 focuses on side muscle stretches with tricks like Spin and Twirl, promoting flexibility.

Week 2 targets core muscles through exercises like ‘Stand’ and ‘Push-ups.’

Do you know? This program alleviates anxiety, improves communication, and fosters socialization.

Plus, this program prioritizes positive reinforcement, interactive toys, and varied activities for enjoyable sessions.

Remember this! For the BEST results, your dog should have basic obedience skills. You can increase your bond with your pup if you’re sure about this.

Service Dog Training

Dogo’s ‘Little Helper Program’ is a foundational course for aspiring service dogs.

Service dogs play a CRUCIAL role in assisting individuals with disabilities.

And with the right traits like:

  • Friendliness
  • Calmness
  • Socialization
  • Eagerness

To learn, obedience, and non-reactivity, any dog can become a great companion!

This program covers essential skills over two weeks, focusing on commands like ‘Sit and Stay,’‘Touch,’and ‘Tug’ and practical tasks such as opening doors, fetching items, and cleaning up.

So, you can train your service dog and build a lasting bond while achieving your targets.

However, Be CAUTIOUS! Promised benefits may not suit every dog’s pace. Evaluate the real need for multiple programs and consider costs. ALWAYS prioritize individuality and financial implications before committing.

Pricing and Refund Policy of the Dogo App

Here’s the most SATISFYING Part about the ‘Dogo App.’

Pricing.

What I was inspired by their PRICING and REFUND POLICY is:

  • Cost-effective Training: Dogo offers a range of plans, ranging from $4.99 to $19.99 per month, making professional dog training accessible to all.

However, you can benefit from their unlimited programs and trainers and ensure excellent team support.

  • Refund Policy: Confidence in results! Dogo promises noticeable improvements within days. If behavioral changes aren’t observed, they offer a 14-day money-back guarantee.

You can collaborate with up to 5 family members at no extra cost. With a sync progress, schedules, and health logs seamlessly.

However, some users may find recurring costs burdensome over time. The short refund window may not be enough for a thorough assessment, as dog behavior changes take time. So, you should consider the value and fit for their training needs carefully.

What I Liked About the Dogo App?

Let me be honest. The Dogo App stood out for me because it’s SUPER EASY to use. The layout was simple, and I could find everything I needed without issue.

Plus, the training modules were great – really helpful and easy to follow. I appreciated that they were designed to fit different dog breeds and behaviors.

The BEST PART? This app also sent me reminders at just the correct times, and the personalized tips were spot on. Overall, Dogo is user-friendly, educational, and practical for training my dog.

What Needs Attention in the Dogo App?

While the Dogo app is user-friendly, I noticed some room for improvement. The app occasionally experienced slow loading times, impacting the overall experience.

Additionally, a more comprehensive range of training modules would be beneficial, as the current selection, though helpful, felt limited.

Also, through some customer reviews, I understood that another problem here is the misleading approach of the app.

There are two options: a basic version that’s essentially useless and constantly pushes you to upgrade to the premium trial, and the premium subscription.

The issue is that they claim to be a free app with in-app purchases, but in reality, there are no genuinely free features. They should be upfront about this from the beginning.

Lastly, I prefer more personalized features based on my dog’s specific needs to enhance the app’s effectiveness – to the NEXT level.

Addressing these issues would make the Dogo App even more comprehensive and satisfying for users like me, who expect a seamless training experience!

Customer Testimonials of Dogo App

  • Customer Testimonial 1:
Just started the free trial (you have to start the subscription, but it won’t charge you until the 7th day. Some don’t seem to like this, but I get no impression of it being a tactic to get the forgetful to pay, they are very clear about it and you can easily cancel) The app is very good and informative. My dog is already picking up on new habits and I have a much better idea on how to schedule his training. I will definitely be using this a lot.

In Short: In his trial, he has tried a subscription with no charges until day 7. Despite concerns, this user finds the app informative and helpful for his dog’s habits and training schedule.

  • Customer Testimonial 2:
Very pleased so far. Have used only for a few weeks. Tempted to give 5 stars, but I am a tough grader. Maybe after more time. Love the incremental approach of training each skill for very short intervals. Video guidance is very helpful; especially the added tips. We are definitely seeing progress in the couple of exercises we have started. Looking forward to more great results.

Google Play Review

In short, this user is pleased after a few weeks of use, considering it a 5-star. He appreciates the incremental skill training with short intervals, finding video guidance helpful, and sees progress in starting exercises.

However, he is expecting more positive results.

  • Customer Testimonial 3:
I can’t access any of the lessons even though I’ve been charged on my credit card. I click on a lesson and I’m brought to another payment/ subscription page. I’ve tried the chat feature to get to customer service but nothing happens. I want my money back.

In short, Lisa shared her disappointment and requested her money back. She says she cannot access the lessons even though she has paid for the course through her credit card.

  • Customer Testimonial 4:
Terrible. It has the option for a membership then at the bottom to continue for free. After pushing the button to use the app without a membership it gives the option to buy a yearly membership. Turns out you cannot use it without the membership. Not sure why it gives the option to use for free when it just forces you to pay. Just say that this app has to have a membership and be up front about it. This is shady as hell.

In short, this user says she tried to get the membership FREE by using the suggested option; however, it’s mentioned that she cannot use their courses without a membership. She says she was asked to pay for the membership.

This shows that customers have gone through different experiences, no matter what. However, if you still prefer a better option, I have an alternative for you.

I mean, that’s one of my favorite dog-training programs!

Alternative: K9 Training Institute

When considering dog training apps, the K9 Training Institute emerges as a top-tier ALTERNATIVE to the Dogo App, offering a great and practical approach to dog training.

Why? Because it has some EXCEPTIONAL features:

  • Expert Guidance:

Do you know? K9 Training Institute is led by experienced professionals, Dr. Alexa Diaz and Eric Presnallm, both with great experience, especially in training service dogs.

Dr. Diaz’s Ph.D. in animal behavior and over 20 years of experience bring unparalleled expertise to the training program, ensuring your dog receives guidance from industry leaders.

  • Trainings They Offer:

K9ti shows its real quality compared to other dog training apps and programs in this area; you can tackle any behavior problems in your dog and turn them into your perfect canine companion.

Here are some of their offerings:

  • Potty training
  • Methods for curbing excessive barking
  • Strategies for instructing your dog to signal the presence of strangers without barking
  • Guidance on leash training and techniques for minimizing pulling behavior.
  • Procedures for ensuring your dog reliably responds to recall commands.
  • Techniques for discouraging your dog from jumping on individuals.
  • Procedures for aiding your dog in maintaining focus amidst distractions.
  • Strategies for familiarizing your dog with interpreting body language, reducing reliance on verbal cues or raised voices in public settings.
  • Comprehensive training aimed at fostering obedience and understanding beyond basic commands.

Operant Conditioning Method:

GUESS WHAT? Unlike apps that rely solely on verbal commands, K9 Training Institute employs operant conditioning, emphasizing rewards and positive reinforcement.

Plus, the focus on body language sets it apart, providing a more natural and effective way for dogs to understand commands.

As mentioned in the beginning, you can try all this without spending a penny, which means it’s all risk-free. I’d say give this a shot, and if you follow everything here perfectly, dog training completed for free.

There are a lot more. You can check their website or contact them for more details.
