Satellai Dog Collar, revealed at CES 2025, aims to become the Swiss Army knife of GPS smart collars.
With cutting-edge technology and a boatload of features you won’t typically find in other systems, it’s been generating a lot of buzz in the pet tech space.
But does it really have what it takes to separate itself from the top dogs? That’s what we’ll uncover in this Satellai dog collar review.
After using it as my primary pet collar for the past couple of months, I have the answer.
In this review of the Satellai GPS fence, you’ll know if it’s something you can rely on to keep your dog safe or if it’s just another of those overhyped GPS fence that bursts onto the market, only to vanish months later, leaving customers stuck with a dead piece of equipment and zero support.
About Satellai
With no prior experience, this is the company’s first go at a GPS based invisible fence and live location tracker with Mark Mao, the CEO, leading the way.
Satellai was first reveled at the Consumer Electronic Show (CES) in January 2025. A satellite-powered, AI guided pet containment system, which took everyone by surprise.
Who wouldn’t be interested to try out advanced tech?
Fast-forward to April 2025, the collar was launched and it was a massive success.

Satellai Collar Review: Everything You Need To Know
As I already mentioned, the aim here is to become the Swiss Army knife of all GPS Tracking and Containment Systems. As far as the features go, Satellai has everything that you need and more. Let’s get to them one by one.
Virtual Fences
Creating precise virtual fences and keeping your dog safe is what Satellai was set out to do, and the tech it packs to do that is promising.
Let’s get started with the size and shape of the fence you’re able to create.
You can cover up to 100,000 acres of land with the system without any problems, now that is more than what any of us will ever need.
The smallest fence you can create is 0.5 acres.
And when it comes to the shapes of fences you can create, you’re not just limited to circular shaped fences like most other similar devices. Satellai is one of the few devices that lets you put up fences with whatever the shape you want, you’re not limited.
Setting up a boundary is simple, you can do that through the app (more on that later) and there are a few options you can take advantage of. First up is the simple setup, where you can just lay a circular fence where you want.
This quick setup option is great, you can simply put up a fence when you’re out and about like in the park or beach.
Complex setup is where things get interesting, this is where you’re provided the full freedom to put up maximum protection for your dog. To set up, all you have to do is some drawing in the app on how you want your fence to be, and you’re all set.
To create more precise boundaries, you also have the option to carry the collar with the app opened on your phone and walk along the property. This option lets you create the fences exactly the way to want it to be.
As mentioned already, there are no limitations here.
Dangerous zone is another option. This option lets you create a new complex fence within the fence you’re already. This helps keep your dog away from specific areas in your yard, like for example the swimming pool or even the garden. All you have to do is simply draw a boundary around the area you don’t want your dog to enter and that’s it, the collar will do the rest.
Also, you can activate and deactivate a fence whenever you want. Since Satellai allows you to create and store unlimited virtual boundaries, that is a useful feature.
Yes, you heard that right, you can create and store any number of fences you want and activate them whenever you want, even at the same time. Now that is a luxury, only a handful of these devices provide.
SpotOn and Satellai to be exact, no other devices on the market can do that.
All in all, Satellai is right up there with the elites when it comes to virtual fences.
Location Tracking
If you’re looking for a GPS dog fence, you need to make sure it has location tracking. This will keep you updated on your dog’s location, no matter where you are.
Wondering how Satellai stacks up? See how GPS collars compare to invisible fences in our in-depth breakdown.
To keep things reliable, accurate and fast, Satellai connects up to five Global Navigation Satellite Systems such as the GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, BeiDou, and QZSS. While I can’t verify if it really connects at those satellites, looking at the performance, I can only tell you one thing.
It does a good job.
Satellai also labels its collar as the World’s First Dual Antennas & Dual-Frequency smart collar.
That’s a lot of tech to take on, let me just tell you about the location tracking performance of the Satellai Collar.
As mentioned already, it does a good job, even in areas I did not expect it to perform. Location updates were fast, you can expect updates every 1 to 2 seconds based on the quality of the GPS signal.
Now, that’s basically real-time.
It was largely consistent, even semi-wooded areas and suburban areas, where most other devices struggle. In the worst case, the update times can increase to up to 5 to 6 seconds, but nothing more than that according to my experience.
However, cloudy days can take a toll on the performance, Satellai did not perform very well in those conditions. Location updates took almost 10 seconds or even 15 seconds in some cases.
Now, I would not say it’s a dealbreaker.
This is common with other similar devices, and there are still GPS trackers that take more time than this, even on a bright sunny day.
So, I’d recommend you to be cautious if you are going to use the Satellai when the weather condition is not very favorable.
Apart from that, location tracking wise, there’s not many downsides to report, you can expect a solid performance.
Progressive Feedback
Correction accuracy is super important if you’re considering a GPS dog fence. This is how fast and consistent the device is in correcting your dog when it’s heading towards the fence.
Satellai will take care of your dog without any issues.
Corrections take place on time.
And with all typical feedbacks present, Tone, Vibration with 3 intensity levels and Static Stimulation with 3 intensity levels, all I can say is, your dog is in good hands.

How Satellai handles the corrections are also what you can expect from a premium GPS fence.
So, here’s what the collar does to keep your dog inside the boundary.
The corrections will start when your dog is around 12 feet away from the boundary and is heading towards it. The feedback will be based on what you’ve chosen, it can be either vibration or static feedback.
When you first set up the fence, Satellai automatically creates a 10-foot warning zone just inside the boundary line. So if your dog enters this zone and continues moving toward the boundary, the feedback will continue.
The chances of your dog turning back with this setup is much higher.
But you need to make sure you’ve trained your dog according to the training guide that comes in the box, if not you will run into issues.
Still unsure? Don’t worry. We’ve got you covered with a step-by-step guide to invisible fence training. Check it out to learn more.
Finally, if your dog crosses the boundary but then turns back toward the safe zone, Satellai’s encouragement feedback activates, a pre-recorded human voice saying “Good” to positively reinforce the behavior.
Not to mention, whenever your dog exits the fence, the device will immediately send an alert notification to your phone, so you can check up on your dog without any delays.
What sets Satellai apart is its tech, and you can clearly see that here. Not just that, everything is completely customizable to suit your needs and how you want to use the collar.
But there’s more.
Health and Activity Monitoring
Satellai isn’t just a containment system and location tracking device.
This device excels when it comes to activity and health tracking too. Completely ai-powered, the collar will keep track of your dog’s sleeping schedule, running, walking, resting periods and a lot more, everything can be checked on the app.
If the collar senses any unusual activity, you will be immediately notified. This data will also be helpful during vet visits.
You can also take advantage of the built-in AI chatbot to clarify any questions related to your dog’s health and activity, you will get the answers almost instantly.
Battery Life
Satellai has one of the best battery runtimes of any GPS collars I’ve tried recently.
With 7-days of runtime with a single charge (on paper), there are not many competitors at the moment that comes close.
However, real life usage can differ.
From what I’ve seen, you can easily squeeze out a maximum of 3 days with intense use such as constant location tracking. With day to day usage such as activity tracking and containment without using live tracking, you can expect between 5 and 7 days.
My recommendation is to charge the collar when it’s at 40% to 50%, so it does not die in the middle of the day.
Satellai Beacon
These beacons from Satellai has you covered indoors as well. You will get one in the box, and if you need more, you can purchase them from the website.
If you have a dog that loves to raid the garbage can, nose through the kitchen bin, you’re not alone. Satellai’s Beacon can put a stop to those, all you have to do is place it near the trouble spot and whenever your dog gets too close, it will be corrected with one of the three feedbacks you’ve chosen.
Not just a garbage can, you can place it anywhere you don’t want your dog to be and the beacon with take care of the rest.
For me, this was super useful, my dog doesn’t even think about getting near my small indoor garden anymore.
The Satellai App
As you may already know by now, Satellai is completely controlled by its app. The device is not operational without it.
Creating fences, location tracking, activity tracking, every single operation is done through the app.
The app is available on both iOS and Android and having used it quite sometime now, it needs a little polishing. Plenty of bugs and frequent crashes has been a headache, and very rarely loses connection with the collar for a second or two.
I don’t know if it’s just me, but it can be unusable at times.
Not something to worry about since the app is relatively new, one or two software updates can polish it up. 6
Satellai Subscription Plan and the Price
I’m not sure if Satellai is cheap, perfectly priced, or on the expensive side. Compared to other premium GPS fences, it’s definitely more affordable, but at $499.99, it’s still a significant investment for most dog owners.
Not to mention, you also need a subscription to access most of the important features such as real time location tracking, location history and escape alerts.
That said, Satellai still stands out for what it offers. Unlimited zones, flexible boundaries, global coverage, strong battery life, waterproofing, and more. Check the image below for a full breakdown of the specs.
Considering all that, it’s fair to look at alternatives. But for what Satellai does, I would say it’s worth spending that money and giving a shot, because it’s completely risk-free.
If you’re not happy with the results, you can simply return the collar and get a refund within 90-days.
Satellai Collar Subscription Plan
The subscription plans are mostly similar to the competitors. There are 03 options:
